I am in love with colour — loud, sweet, almost edible — and I paint myth and childhood creatures in it. Then I hand the same image an XR layer, so it can step off the canvas: acrylic and augmented reality as one hybrid medium, not two hobbies.

HYBRID
MEDIA ART

Part of the works carry AR layers: point a phone at the canvas and a 3D object appears, anchored to the painting from any angle. In parallel I build spatial scenes in VR — "The Living Margin" (2025) and the creatures of "The Monsters We Carry" (2026) — and teach drawing in virtual reality with the VR IN Gallery team.

ABOUT

Margarita Suliaeva is a visual artist and XR researcher based in Belgrade. She works in acrylic painting, VR drawing and augmented reality, exploring where mythological imagery meets immersive technology. MA with Honours in Graphic Arts, Surikov Institute (2021); Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (2018); graduate thesis — a graphic series made during a field expedition to Tanzania. Shown in Belgrade, Yerevan, Almaty, London and Moscow.
